Retained Search

Retained Search
For key, hard-to-find executives

When it comes to identifying, wooing and appointing highly specialised staff, or high flying senior management we suggest retained search. These candidates are, probably, not actively seeking new positions, and won’t be discovered by other recruitment methods.

It’s where Alexander Lort’s skills really count. Because of our knowledge of the financial sectors, we’ll know where to look for those key people that can really make a difference to your organisation. Candidates revealed in a retained search are exclusively ‘yours’ until you decide whether or not to recruit them.

Typically, our involvement with you on a retained search assignment will include:

  • Understand and appreciate your organisation’s culture
  • Work with you to develop a full role and candidate profile
  • Compile a list of companies likely to currently employ the person you want
  • Identify candidates within those companies
  • Make initial approaches to determine their attitude to career development
  • Identify the strongest candidates, collect CVs and arrange Alexander Lort interviews
  • Interview, profile, check references
  • Arrange first interviews with you
  • Brief and de-brief both you and the candidate before and after each interview
  • Work with you to draw up a shortlist
  • Arrange second and subsequent interviews, briefing and debriefing
  • Make offer to the person selected, negotiating package, start date, etc as necessary
  • Prepare candidate for resignation and the possibility of a counter-offer
  • Stay in touch with the candidate throughout the notice period
  • Maintain contact with you and the candidate during the crucial early period of employment
